How to check your website’s performance as seen by the rest of the world

February 18, 2016

Whenever any one of my websites appear to be running slow, part of troubleshooting is to figure out whether this issue only affects me or the rest of the world as well.

One of the (free) tools that I love to use in situations like this is Host-Tracker.com. The cool thing about Host-Tracker is they have over 70 monitoring locations worldwide and they’ll tell you how your website performs (or if your website is down) as seen from many of those locations.

You can also sign up and get your website monitored by them. They will automatically check your website periodically and make sure it stays up.

  1. Hello ,
I wanted to thank you for pointing me to host-tracker.com/ on your page here: blog.ryanharijanto.com/articles/how-to-check-your-websites-performance-as-seen-by-the-rest-of-the-world/
I was not aware of how important it is to monitor my site and you got me to do that!
I signed up for the service and used it until they asked me for money (I get that; they have servers and costs that they need to cover).
After some research, I found this super cool really free alternative mobile app. What these guys do is turn my phone into a monitor, so I get an instant message if my site is down.
I think this is a really cool approach, and it saves me the money I paid for the monitoring. They promise a forever-free app, so I thought since you got me to the first course, I would return the favor, so you can share this app on your page.

    Hope I helped.
